Tourism in and around Paynesville

Paynesville is famous as a boating and fishing gateway to the extensive Gippsland Lakes with fantastic views over the lakes. With quiet, safe beaches, walking and cycling tracks, and regular activities like markets and annual events like the Music Festival or speed boat racing, there is something to do throughout the year. Watch the yacht races on Sundays and Tuesday afternoons or evenings, join in the Sailability program, hire a power boat or fish from the numerous jetties.

Watch our pelicans, swans and Burranan dolphins in the waters or take the Koala walk on nearby Raymond Island to see the abundant kangaroo and koalas in the area.

Visit Paynesville, the Heart of the Gippsland Lakes website for a wealth of information.

There are the Silt Jetties of nearby Eagle Point, all the boats moored all around Paynesville - some classic old ones mixed with modern ones, and of course the Raymond Island Ferry that is free to pedestrians, cyclists and wheelchairs but charges for its up to 20 cars capacity. There are cycle rentals on the Island too, most weekends.
